NGC 104 at the top and NGC 362 at the left side. SMC is visually accompanied by two globular clusters. Compared to the Milky Way’s size (100’000 light-years in diameter) it’s significantly smaller (7’000 light-years in diameter) and it’s roughly 200’000 light-years far from us. It has an irregular shape, which resembles a droplet. Small Magellanic Cloud, shorty SMC, is a dwarf galaxy, which is gravitationally bonded to the Milky Way. ZWO 178MM, QHY Mini Guide Scope 30/130 mm TelescopeĪnd here is a photo of the same object, just with a shorter focal length. I submitted several pictures already and finally, I managed. I am happy to announce that this photo won Czech astrophotography of the month. Specifically, I stacked 86 narrow band pictures, each 5 minutes long. I knew that this nebula is dim, so I dedicated a lot of time to it. Their heads are illuminated by the open cluster NGC 6193. Two dragons are clearly visible in the middle. As a fan of Game of Thrones or Hobit, I simply had to capture this beauty. Those 5 things I listed above are the only advantages that the RedCat 51 has over the Sharpstar, and yet they're insignificant, can be remedied for $20, or done in software (for free).NGC 6188 is sometimes called The Fighting Dragons of Ara. The camera angle adjuster on the RC51 has degree markings on it - This is the only thing that cannot be put on the Sharpstar for $20, but again, it's irrelevant since you should be using software to figure out the angle of your framing (analog will never be as precise & accurate as digital). You cannot have tilt if your imaging train is fully threaded, unless the sensor is the thing that's tilted which is rare in occurrence. It comes with a tilt adjuster - This isn't useful if you're using a fully threaded imaging train which both the RC51 and Sharpstar have. The Petzval design means you don't need to worry about backfocus - This is irrelevant, with a DSLR you never have to worry about backfocus in the first place since the t-ring and corrector combo give you the right distance. The dovetail bar is longer and shinier - You can just buy one from eBay or Amazon for $20-40. It has a bahtinov mask - Those are literally $20 from eBay, or Amazon, or free DIY. The RedCat offers zero meaningful advantages over the Sharpstar. The Sharpstar 61 EDPH II is better while being cheaper.
